Pochin’s has secured a £9.5m contract to build DeTrafford Estates Group’s new 75,000 sq ft residential development in Manchester’s Castlefield district. The award-nominated design, The Roof Gardens, One Ellesmere Street, will provide new homes ideal for families and young professionals.
Unique to the development are the impressive rooftop gardens, framed with a crown of corten steel, the first of their nature in Manchester. This pioneering addition, and the development’s city centre location, make the project an exciting new convergence of contemporary inner city living and suburban comforts.
Along with its iconic rooftop gardens, the project will also feature two tree-lined courtyards, providing a real sense of community for the residents.
Commenting on the deal, Pochin’s CEO Jim Nicholson said: “We are delighted to be working on the One Ellesmere Street development. It is a privilege to be involved with a project that will provide over 70 new homes for people in Manchester city centre. Pochin’s involvement is a great illustration of our continued commitment to residential projects and innovative approach to development in the region.”
Gary Jackson, Founder and Director of DeTrafford Estates Group, added: “The Roof Gardens are an exciting new lifestyle opportunity in Manchester, inspired by New York’s rooftop living. We constantly strive to develop pioneering concepts that can be integrated fully within the everyday necessities of the home and this latest project does just that. One Ellesmere Street provides the perfect location for inner city living with the vibrant community of Castlefield at its doorstop.
“We are extremely pleased to have Pochin’s on board and look forward to seeing our vision come to life.”
Work on the project is expected to be completed in January 2017.
