Blackpool Leisure Centre

Blackpool Leisure Centre - Blackpool

Located within Moor Park, Blackpool, this mixed-use development linked a new leisure facility to an existing swimming pool and an attached Primary Care Trust.

Construction comprised piled foundations, a steel frame, composite concrete upper floors, cladding of metal / render / reconstructed timber boarding, internal partitions and finishes, fittings services and external works. Around the perimeter of the building Pochin’s created over 190 car parking spaces, motorbike parking, bicycle parking and a bus stop area. Beyond the car parking areas there is a multi-use games arena (MUGA) and children’s play area.


Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel

Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel - North Wales

A complex and logistically challenging scheme, this project involved the creation of 45 bedrooms within Bodelwyddan Castle’s gardens, an extension to the leisure centre and the construction of a stunning glazed atrium / reception area. Internally, all areas were highly finished to ensure a welcoming environment for guests at this luxury hotel near Snowdonia and the Welsh coast.


Coed Y Brenin

Coed Y Brenin - Dolgellau

This scheme extended the Visitor’s Centre at Coed Y Brenin Forest Park, Snowdonia, using an innovative solid timber solution called Brettstapel. It was the first construction in the UK to use this method with solely UK-grown timber. The Brettstapel method has been developed over hundreds of years using soft wood timber with connecting hard wood dowels. The steep slope of the site presented a number of engineering challenges which Pochin’s overcame to deliver the perfect base facility for mountain bikers and hiking enthusiasts alike.


Alvaston Hall Hotel

Alvaston Hall Hotel - Nantwich

With a major refurbishment and extension project brief, Pochin’s delivered a three-phase strategy for Alvaston Hall Hotel to reduce disruption to its day-to-day business. The first phase extended the car park to make it suitable for the extended hotel before a refurbishment to the Cabaret Suite and existing bedrooms. Timber frame constructed two and three-storey buildings then doubled the capacity of the hotel with a mixture of standard suite and lounge suites.


Mere Golf Resort & Spa

Mere Golf Resort & Spa - Knutsford

This project at the prestigious Mere Golf & Country Club in Knutsford was delivered over two phases: the construction of a spa facility and an 81-bed luxury hotel. The hotel construction included the demolition of the old leisure centre and formed an extension to the original Victorian building at the resort, along with a new Brasserie restaurant located in the existing atrium. Further refurbishment on the existing buildings were completed along with new retaining walls, pathways and additional landscaped areas.


HQ

HQ - Chester

Chester HQ was a new build project consisting of a four-star hotel, 34 luxury apartments and 60,000 sq ft of high quality office accommodation, as well as two basement levels providing car parking and service rooms. The contract involved a 26-week delay due to archaeological digs taking place, however Pochin’s and its subcontracting team worked together and recovered the time to deliver the contract one month early.
