Altrincham Hospital - Altrincham
Situated on a confined site within the centre of Altrincham, the new Altrincham Hospital provides state of the art facilities to replace the existing Victorian building nearby.
The building is constructed over four floors with basement car parking, totalling almost 70,000 sq ft, including 50,000 sq ft of clinical and staff space. Working closely with Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Pochin’s developed a design that delivers the complex and detailed operational requirements of a hospital within a confined town centre site, to serve the Trust well into the future.
Brewood Health Centre - Staffordshire
The project comprised the traditional new build of a two-storey 12,000 sq ft medical centre for Brewood Medical Practice. The medical centre was built on a greenfield site with associated car parking, external paving and landscaping.
The construction involved traditional foundations on trench fill, external brickwork, render and timber cladding.
Integrated Resource Centre - Frodsham
This new health centre incorporates two local GP practices and a community care centre, providing a full range of services for the communities of Frodsham and Helsby. Located on the site of the former Frodsham High School, the 61-week construction programme involved demolition of the existing building, ground works, removal of the existing foundations followed by the steel erection.
Externally the works were extensively hard paved, creating a communal area between the resource centre and the adjacent sports centre, with the majority of the materials incorporated into the building process naturally and locally sourced where possible.
Mariners Park - Wallasey
The Hub is a new build extra-care and communal facility located on the Mariners Park Estate in Wallasey, Wirral. Pochin’s was responsible for the demolition of existing properties and the construction of a curved four-storey communal hub building with 18 residential apartments and shared amenities.
Ronald McDonald House - Manchester
Ronald McDonald House Charities’ free ‘home away from home’ enables up to 240 people to stay at any one time and be close to their children in hospital. The concept is based around en-suite sleeping accommodation supported by communal living and dining facilities made up over five floors supporting 60 family rooms. In addition, the House provides playrooms, laundry facilities, a teenager room and a quiet room.
The build was constructed using traditional pad foundation, steel frame with SFS external walls, rain screen system external works, garden and footpaths.
Cancer Research Centre - Manchester
The three-storey Manchester Cancer Research Centre is a collaboration of The Christie, University Of Manchester and Cancer Research UK. The facility provides world class research facilities to lead the fight against cancer.
The Centre can accommodate up to 250 staff, including over 150 scientists across three defined laboratory blocks with associated offices and desk top research areas. Pochin’s worked as a construction partner to M+W group who specialise in high quality research and ultra clean environments. Achieving BREEAM ‘Very good’ rating was aided by high insulation ratings, rainwater harvesting, the use of natural ventilation and photovoltaic cells.
