Pochin’s has topped out on a new £16m care village in Birkdale.
The facility, located on Oxford Road, will provide accommodation for more than 100 people. Within, there will be 30 one- and two-bedroom independent living apartments available, as well as six households, consisting of 12 spacious suites each, where 24-hour specialist care will be available for residents.
Following the topping out ceremony, Belong chief executive, Tracey Stakes, said: “We are thrilled to mark the completion of the main building work at our first seaside village. It’s in a perfect location and we are really looking forward to bringing our award-winning services and facilities to the local area, which we are confident will quickly prove an asset to both older people and the wider community.”
The care village will have a range of facilities open to the public, such as a bistro, hair salon, exercise studio and function rooms, designed to promote maximum engagement with local communities.
The design inspiration was taken from the village’s surroundings and utilised materials from around the West Birkdale conservation area throughout the build.
Bob Nicholson, property director at Pochin’s, added: “We’ve worked on numerous projects alongside Belong and have created a strong working relationship to ensure that no matter the brief, whether care facility or retail project, we always create the highest quality build.
“There’s no doubt this facility will be a real asset to those in and around the Birkdale area. In partnership with Belong, we’ve created a space what will benefit so many local people.”
