Pochin’s has been awarded ‘Family Business of the Year’ at this year’s EN North West Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. CEO Jim Nicholson attended the event, held at the Mere Golf Resort and Spa, to collect the accolade from Lord Digby Jones.
The achievement follows a landmark year for Pochin’s, during which the company has returned to private ownership, and has celebrated its 80-year anniversary.
In the last year, the business has been restructured leading to an impressive £78m turnover and a strong pipeline of projects for 2016.
The award comes after a string of recent £10m+ contract announcements from Pochin’s, including the pioneering Rooftop Gardens residential development in Castlefield, Manchester, and a 240,000 sq ft commercial development at Trafford Point.
Speaking at the awards, Jim Nicholson, CEO of Pochin’s Ltd, said: “I would like to thank EN for recognising the performance of our business over the past 12 months. This award reflects on the numerous high quality projects we’ve been involved in, and is testament to the hard work of all 160 members of staff.
“We are extremely proud to be celebrating our 80-year anniversary as a family business. We couldn’t have reached this milestone without the strong relationships we hold with our long-standing client base and suppliers. Since Pochin’s was founded in 1934 we have grown to become synonymous with the North West, and strive to continue our contribution to construction and property development in the region for many more years to come.”
